Healing and Building Strong Bodies

Last year I arrived in Colorado about 1 month after a bike accident. I had broken 3 bones in my pelvis and my collarbone. It took me weeks to be able to walk to this pond, as I wasn't moving very well. I still remember being wheeled around the airport in my wheel chair. Once I got to my house I was mostly using 2 crutches to get around, then 1 and finally just a cane. So much progress has been made - this year I walked to the pond the same day I arrived in Colorado!
Earlier this week I took my first longer hike in awhile The uneven ground challenged not only my feet and ankles, but also my knees and hips. I could feel my body making all kinds of adjustments to help keep me upright as I dealt with sand, water crossings, rocks, loose pebbles, tree roots.
The live and live-streamed classes I teach are focused on building strength through the full range-of-motion in every joint in your body, but notice how much time we spend on feet, ankles, knees and hips. So much time! That is so the next time you are on an uneven sidewalk or decide to move off the beaten path, your body knows how to adjust your balance, and has the strength to do it.
Now get outside, move your body and breathe some fresh air!
