The Body You Wake Up In, The Body You Create
- Michelle in listening mode while traveling - I spent 47 years not listening to my body. The past 9 years have been about learning how. I consider myself lucky. My back and neck pain eventually forced me to pay attention. I reached my limit - I was done feeling uncomfortable, living in pain, and not sleeping. While I tried treating my pain with massage, acupuncture, and chiropractic adjustments, I eventually made my way to yoga and found some relief. Not everyone finds the

It was one of those days...
- Michelle in overwhelm!!! - Have you ever had one of those days? Challenge after challenge. Failure after failure. Tasks that needed doing simply weren’t getting done. On this particular day, by late morning, I was deeply frustrated. I decided to take a break - grabbed some lunch, took a shower to reset, and then returned to my list in the afternoon, hoping to regain some momentum. Looking back, the day wasn’t a complete failure. I did accomplish some things. But mentally,

Teaching begins with listening
- Researching strengthening and stretching for Rheumatoid Arthritis of the Hand - Teaching yoga allows me to do one of my most favorite things - learn. I love being a student. I find the human body endlessly interesting. And to be completely honest, I didn't realize how interesting I would find it until I was in my late 40's, enrolled in a yoga teacher training. At that time, I had no desire to teach. I simply wanted to feel better. I had been living with back and neck

Support your sport
- Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course , Alberta, Canada - I know so many of you enjoy physical activities like gardening, pickleball and biking, to name a few. I used to play golf, until I got so frustrated that I walked off the course in the middle of a game. I didn’t throw my clubs, but I also didn’t pick them up again for 5 years. In between the day that I stopped playing golf and the day that I picked my clubs back up, I became a yoga instructor. Over the golfless years

I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike!
- Steamboat Springs, Colorado - I recently got on my non-stationary bike and rode! It had been 461 days since my bike accident. This was mentally one of the hardest things I have done lately. Have you had (or are you having) a similar experience in your life? For some reason (accident, injury, insert reason here...) you have stopped moving. How do you start back up again? Based on my experience, as well as working with hundreds of people over the past 8 years, here are m

The Process of Lifting Heavier
Some of my home fitness equipment, including dumbbells, resistance bands, and yoga blocks. Sometimes I hear about something that sounds like it would be a great addition to my life. I see posts about it on social media, I read about it in the paper, maybe even a formal study is done that I check out. Time passes. I am aware that I still haven't incorporated this great addition into my life. Sound familiar? Anyone else have to see things over and over again in different wa

Be You
- North Fork of the Elk River, Clark, Colorado - The other day someone shared with me how well they are recovering from a recent surgery. Now, I am usually pretty excited for people on their journey back from an injury or illness. I know the road back can be rough, filled with all kinds of potholes. In this case, though, I was a bit put off. While expressing out loud how excited they must be, inside my head I immediately compared my recovery to theirs (an entirely differe
