I know so many of you enjoy physical activities like gardening, pickleball and biking, to name a few.

I used to play golf, until I got so frustrated that I walked off the course in the middle of a game. I didn’t throw my clubs, but I also didn’t pick them up again for 5 years.

In between the day that I stopped playing golf and the day that I picked my clubs back up, I became a yoga instructor. Over the golfless years, I spent countless hours studying human anatomy, many times over.

What I have learned is I wouldn’t be playing golf without all I do on my mat. Golf (and the many other activities we all love) involves twisting, balancing, joint strength in wrists and shoulders and spinal flexibility. Yoga supports my game, and helps me move my body however I want while minimizing my injuries.

Getting back to golf has been a bit of a journey for me. A family vacation was planned and included a tee time at a beautiful Canadian golf course. I had to try. Knowing this vacation was fast approaching, and not wanting to miss out on time with the family, I began practicing and playing. I spent 2 months working on my game before we made our way north. Playing golf in Canada with my family was so much fun, and well worth all the effort.

I hope you’ll consider joining me on your mat as we move our bodies, supporting ourselves so we can do what we want, when we want, for however long we want.
