Sometimes I hear about something that sounds like it would be a great addition to my life. I see posts about it on social media, I read about it in the paper, maybe even a formal study is done that I check out. Time passes. I am aware that I still haven't incorporated this great addition into my life. Sound familiar? Anyone else have to see things over and over again in different ways and versions before finally taking a step in that direction?
I have had numerous people sign up for my emails, but never attend a class. I envision them signing up and then checking "do yoga this year" off their list. I love that they signed up, but I don't love that they didn't actually move their bodies (at least not with me). Quick reminder if that was you - signing up for emails doesn't count. Only showing up and doing the work counts.
I finally began lifting weights this month. Not super heavy (yet), but I began with the goal of adding 2 sessions/week into my routine. Just getting started can be so challenging. Thinking about this has caused me to notice that to get something new into my self-care routine I have to be very uncomfortable, in a lot of pain, or finally fed up with myself for knowing better and not doing anything about it.
So far, I am feeling good and yes, I did check "begin lifting weights" off my list 🏋
